Homescore App Inc, doing business as Soffit ("Soffit," "we," "us," or "our"), operates the Soffit mobile application, website (soffit.ai), and the Soffit Managed Home Maintenance subscription service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our services, whether you use the Soffit app independently or as a subscriber to our managed maintenance service.
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. We use a passwordless login system — we send a one-time verification code to your email rather than storing passwords.
When you claim a property, we collect and store the property address. We may also retrieve publicly available property data (such as square footage, year built, and lot size) from third-party data providers to enrich your home profile.
Photos of your home's systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roof, etc.) are captured during annual reviews and seasonal checkups. If you use the Soffit app independently, you take these photos yourself. If you are a managed maintenance subscriber, a Soffit representative takes photos during on-site visits to your home. All photos are uploaded to our servers and analyzed using AI services — including object detection for system identification and condition assessment for maintenance planning.
Photos you take through the app may include geolocation metadata (GPS coordinates). We use this data to verify property ownership by comparing photo locations to your claimed property address.
If you choose to connect your insurance provider, we collect your carrier name and optionally your policy number to enable partner rewards and perks.
If you subscribe to our managed maintenance service, a Soffit representative visits your home to perform annual reviews and quarterly checkups. During these visits, the representative documents system specifications (make, model, year installed, filter sizes, battery types), condition assessments, and maintenance actions performed. This data is recorded through the Soffit app and stored with your property profile.
If you subscribe to our managed maintenance service, we collect payment information to process recurring subscription fees. Payment card details are processed and stored by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our servers. We retain billing records including transaction dates, amounts, and subscription status.
When you book an appointment through our website or app, we collect scheduling data including your preferred date, time, and contact information. Initial bookings may be processed through Cal.com, a third-party scheduling service. Ongoing appointment scheduling for quarterly checkups is managed through the Soffit app.
We collect your email address, and optionally your phone number, to send service-related communications including appointment reminders, visit summaries, and billing notifications. We also collect push notification tokens if you enable notifications in the Soffit app.
We automatically collect basic usage information such as device type, operating system, and app interactions to improve our service.
We use your information to provide and improve the Soffit service, including generating your Soffit Score, delivering seasonal maintenance guidance, verifying property ownership, connecting you with insurance partner rewards, sending service-related notifications (checkup reminders, score updates), and communicating with you about your account.
For managed maintenance subscribers, we also use your information to schedule and coordinate on-site visits, process subscription payments, generate post-visit service summaries, send appointment reminders and confirmations, source the correct maintenance materials for your home's systems, and track maintenance history across visits.
We may also use property data in aggregated, de-identified, or property-level form to develop data products and services for third parties such as insurers, real estate professionals, and other partners.
We do not sell your personal information. We will only share personal information with the insurance carrier you have an active policy with and have chosen to connect through Soffit, and with service providers that help us operate our platform under data processing agreements. These service providers include cloud hosting and database providers, email and communication delivery services, payment processing (Stripe), appointment scheduling (Cal.com), AI analysis providers used for photo assessment, and analytics tools. We may also disclose personal information if required by law or to protect our rights.
We may sell, license, or otherwise share property-level data — including property characteristics, system conditions, maintenance history, and Soffit Scores — with third-party partners such as insurers, data aggregators, and real estate service providers. This data may be shared in identifiable (address-level) form, though it will not be accompanied by your personal contact information unless shared with your connected insurance carrier.
Your data is stored on secure servers in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), secure token-based authentication, and access controls on all systems. Photos and personal data are associated with your account and are not publicly accessible.
You can update your account information through the app, choose not to connect an insurance provider, or delete your account by contacting us at team@soffit.ai. We will delete your personal data within 30 days of a deletion request, subject to legal retention requirements.
Soffit is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email.
